Jessica Says Time Flies By Working At Celestial Seasonings

This blog post came to us today in a phone call from Jessica. Jessica receives support services from Imagine! and through our CORE/Labor Source department is employed at Celestial Seasonings. The crew runs the Kombucha bottling line, packages energy shots, as well as making all the boxes necessary for the jobs.

I am still working at Celestial Seasonings. I like working there. I get to work and I also get to socialize. The pay is very good too. The time flies by when I work there. Sometimes they give me free tea, and food too.

I spend some of the money I earn there on Yankee stuff, New York stuff, and sometimes on food or clothes. Speaking of clothes, I have some old clothes that I am donating to Goodwill.

Chris Visits The Aquarium

This blog post came to us in two ways today.  First was an email from Shannon Bundy, Site Supervisor at the Bob and Judy Charles SmartHome in Boulder, and that was followed by an audio email from Chris, a resident at the home.

Shannon wrote: Chris went to the aquarium with me today. He is going to send you an email about it. He told me that his favorite fish was the little blue one, he said it was pretty. The pictures I am sending you are Chris with the sharks, Chris touching a sting ray, and Chris's favorite fish.

Chris's audio email said: This is Chris calling to tell you that I went to the aquarium with Shannon and I saw sharks and I had fun. Goodbye.

Chris's favorite fish, the pretty blue one.

Mandy Looks Out For Her Pal Gary

This blog post came to us in a phone message last night from Mandy to her friend Gary Stebick, Imagine!'s Communications Coordinator. Mandy is a resident at the Bob and Judy Charles SmartHome in Boulder, and calls regularly to provide us with blog posts, suggestions, or simply to wish a good day, especially for any holiday throughout the year.

In this particular message, please use your imagination to hear Mandy laughing as she speaks because that's how the message was left. Thanks Mandy. (ps:  And yes, Gary changed his phone message this morning to include his job title).

Hi Gary, I think you need to put your title of your occupation on your (phone's) message machine. I know you’re leaving soon but I still think that’s a very necessary issue, and I will be calling to make sure you’ve done it. Bye. And if you haven’t done it, I will call you until you do it.

Mandy Enjoyed "Shrek" At Boulder Dinner Theatre

This blog post came to us last night in a phone call message from Mandy, who is a resident at the Bob and Judy Charles SmartHome in Boulder.

Hi, This is Mandy and I just wanted to let you know that I went to see “Shrek” at the Boulder Dinner Theatre today and I had a lot of fun. It was a musical and I really enjoyed myself. I got to have tamales for lunch and I really had a great time.

If you’d like to put that on the blog on the computer, today is August 3rd, and it’s the Boulder Dinner Theatre here in Boulder. Thank you.

Rebecca's 4th Of July Family Reunion

This blog post came to us during a recent visit to the Bob and Judy Charles SmartHome in Boulder.

Rebecca, who is a resident at the Bob and Judy Charles SmartHome in Boulder, is wearing her family reunion t-shirt that she got in Frisco, CO, over the 4th of July weekend. Rebecca told us her family went to a parade, had a campfire and made s'mores, went on a train ride, and had a lot of fun spending time together.

John Learns Money Skills

This blog post came to us during a visit to the Bob and Judy Charles SmartHome last night.

John is pictured below with the game Allowance at the Bob and Judy Charles SmartHome in Boulder. John has been using the game to improve his money and math skills (identifying different coins and bills, learning about spending and saving money responsibly, and more). John says that learning how many bills or coins he needs to make a purchase has increased his independence and that it’s a good thing to know.  While he was showing how the game works (he said it's kind of like  Monopoly) he took a bill out of the games box and properly and proudly identified it as a five dollar bill.

In addition to that, as a bonus, John said the game is a fun thing to play.  He has taken the task of learning to count money very seriously so if you happen to see John, he'd probably appreciate knowing that his effort is valued.

Tom's Day At The Beach House

This blog post came to us from Tom, who wrote the following story during Imagine!’s Out & About department’s Creative Expressions class. We thank Tom and Out & About for sharing this story with us to use on the Imagine! Voices blog.

I went to the beach house when I was 15. It was fun going to the beach house. My sister and her son and her daughter came to the beach house too. We went swimming and took walks. We went to the downtown area and checked out the stores. I bought comic books.

It was a lovely day. It was a warm and sunny day, and it was a pleasant day. We also went to the grocery store. After shopping at the store we checked out. I bought Reese’s Pieces.

After that, we went back to the beach house to unload what we bought. After that, we cooked dinner and ate dinner. After dinner, we cleaned up and after that we watched TV. After that we went to bed, and the next morning, we had breakfast and went to the beach to go swimming.

Things I like are:
Collecting books.
Beach house.
Christmas gift.
Nice family.
Mother’s Day gift. It made my mom happy to see my gift. I gave my mom a plant for Mother’s Day. It was blue.
Being with group on every Thursday doing art work.
Hearing prairie dogs.
Hearing birds sing.
