Jessica Loves Her Yankees

This blog post came to us in a phone call from Jessica.

"I’ve begun saving $30 a month from my paycheck to go to New York City. It will take a while but that’s OK.

My knee still bothers me some but other than that I’m good. Thanks for praying for me. I pray every day.

I’ve been watching the Yankees on TV. That A-Rod is a show off and I think he should have a mark next to his name for using the PEDs (Performance Enhancing Drugs). Then there’s the pitcher Hughes. He blames his teammates for things. Why would you badmouth your teammates?

I’m waiting to get my bobblehead of CC Sabathia. Last night he looked like a bobblehead when he was pitching, and I couldn’t stop laughing at that. I’m getting the bobblehead as part of the Yankees’ Fun Package. It  comes with two Jeters,  a Rivera, and the Sabathia.  Also a Yankees banner. They send you a welcome letter, membership card, pens, pencils, baseball cards, and a newsletter.

Bye for now."

Jessica is a loyal Yankees fan.

Mandy Sees "Wizard Of Oz" At Boulder Dinner Theatre

This blog post came to us today in an email from Shannon Bundy, who is the Assistant Site Supervisor at the Bob and Judy Charles SmartHome in Boulder, where Mandy lives.

Mandy and I went on an outing to the Boulder Dinner Theatre last night and saw "The Wizard of Oz" musical! She had a great time! She liked how the actors and actresses served us dinner. She got to have a gluten free veg curry for dinner! She told me that she would like to go to more plays like this in the future.

Gerald Riding The 204 Bus

This blog post came to us in an email from Shannon Bundy, who is the Assistant Site Supervisor at the Bob and Judy Charles SmartHome in Boulder.

This is a photo of Gerald when I was taking him on an outing to have lunch on Pearl street. He loves the bus! Whenever he gets a chance he loves to have outings by taking the the 204 bus. He wants to take the bus to Denver at some point. We had lunch at Foolish Craig's Cafe and we got to stop by and say hi to the people at the place where he got his wedding rings made.

Teylan Is Proud Of Her Crawfishing Skills

Today's blog post came to us in an email from Erika Alvis, Boulder CORE/Labor Source Coordinator. Thanks for sharing this Erika, and thanks to Andy for taking the time and effort to find and provide neat opportunities for the people in his class.

Attached is a picture of CORE/LS participant, Teylan, who is with the CORE/Labor Source Community Adventures in Nederland, Colorado, hiking and fishing for crawfish with a piece of string and a hot dog! All of the crawfish caught were immediately released, but as you can tell by the smile of Teylan’s face she is pretty proud of her crawfish fishin’ skills!

Andy Wagner is the instructor of the class and takes a great deal of time researching and planning fun activities that will accommodate all of the likes in the group!

Chris Likes Motorcycles. However...

This blog post and photo came to us from Shannon Bundy, who is a Counselor at the Bob and Judy Charles SmartHome in Boulder.

Chris chose to go to the Cherry Creek Mall in Denver with me and he bought a new watch. He saw this motorcycle on display and wanted me to take a picture of him in front of it.

Editor's Note: I just called Chris on the telephone to ask him if he'd ever ridden on the back of a motorcycle and he replied, "I've already been there and done that and I don't plan to ever do it again."

John Enjoyed A Red Rocks Concert

This blog post came to us in an audio email from John last Friday. John is able to send and receive audio emails independently, and makes good use of his ability to do so.

Hi, this is your friend John speaking. Guess what? I went to Red Rocks and saw Steve Miller Band, and it was fun. Yep, Steve Miller Band with the Doobie Brothers. I enjoyed it and it was a good time. I really like that Red Rocks concert. Me, Whitney, Donna, and Gerald, the four of us went.

I’m also going to tell you that there’s the garage sale going on this weekend, so if you come that will be great.

I really want to thank you for seeing me in the Imagine!’s 50th anniversary party. I really had a good time. I’ll talk to you later, bye.

Roy Saves His Money For When He Needs It

This blog post came to us today in a conversation with Roy, who was at CORE/Labor Source where he had just completed doing a time study on some contract work to make sure everyone is paid a fair wage.

When asked if he has been doing anything special with the money he earns at his jobs, (Roy works at the Pumphouse, Oskar Blues, and Amcon), Roy replied, “You know me, I like to save my money the best I can so when I need it I have it.”

Robert Had Fun At Imagine!'s 50th Anniversary Party

This blog post came to us from Robert, with the help of his CORE/Labor Source Instructor Stephanie. Robert wrote this in a class, and it's about his experience at Imagine!'s 50th anniversary party last Sunday.

The Imagine party I went to was very good. I had a lot of fun at the party and there were a lot of nice people to talk to. I felt kind of sorry for the people that didn’t come because they did not have a ride. The weather was kind of rainy, but yet soothing for the people that could stand in there. The food was terrific. I’m sorry I didn’t mention that earlier, but I thought I would let you know that even the beer tasted good. Well that’s all I wanted to say.
